Ferrari 488 GTB review: the turbo V8 Ferrari that finally makes sense in Bahrain

The 488 swapped the 458's screaming naturally aspirated V8 for two turbochargers and a wall of torque nobody complained about after the first proper drive. Prices have finally dropped far enough that this is a realistic used exotic rather than a fantasy.

The F8 Tributo is the 488's engine sharpened, the styling finally aggressive enough to match it, and the last mid-engined V8 Ferrari without a hybrid motor in the driveline. That last fact alone is now doing a lot of the work in holding its resale value in Bahrain.

The 599 GTB Fiorano put a detuned version of the Enzo hypercar's V12 into a front-engined body built for grand touring, and the result still reads as one of the great naturally aspirated Ferrari V12s. Bahrain's small used market makes finding one patience-testing, but not impossible.
