Mercury Cougar (1999-2002) review: an orphan coupe worth exactly what you pay for it

3/5

The last Cougar swapped its muscle-car roots for a front-drive Mondeo platform, and most Bahrain buyers who find one today have no idea that's what they're looking at. It is a pleasant, unremarkable coupe orphaned twice over — first by Mercury's death, then by never having sold here at all.

Mercury Grand Marquis (2003-2011) review: the last honest big sedan Bahrain ever loved

3.8/5

Before the full-size SUV took over, this was the car a Bahraini family bought when they wanted a real American sedan: soft, huge, V8-powered and nearly impossible to break. Mercury is gone and the badge means nothing to a new buyer, but the mechanicals underneath are the same forgiving Panther platform every workshop in the country already knows.

Mercury Marauder review: the sleeper Panther that almost nobody in Bahrain has heard of

3.6/5

Ford took its most boring sedan platform and dropped in a 302 hp DOHC V8 with a limited-slip differential, sold it for two years, and then killed both the car and the brand. What's left is one of the great blue-collar sleepers of the 2000s — if you can find one and can live with sourcing parts for a car this rare.

Mercury Mountaineer (2006-2010) review: an Explorer for less money and less badge value

3/5

Strip away the grille and the Mountaineer is a Ford Explorer, built on the same unibody platform with the same V8 option and the same 6-speed automatic. In Bahrain that mechanical identity is a genuine advantage — every part and every diagnosis already exists locally for the far more common Explorer.
