Chery Arrizo 6 Pro review: a genuinely well-equipped sedan, if you can get past the CVT and the resale math

MotorsSouq Editorial Team

The Arrizo 6 Pro is a legitimately good compact sedan for the money — quiet, well equipped, and reasonably efficient. The seven-year warranty headline is the marketing hook, and it is real, but it is also a vehicle warranty with the usual wear-and-tear and maintenance-compliance exclusions, not a blank cheque; get the exclusion list in writing before you count on it. Buy this car because it's a sound sedan at a fair price, and go in expecting a Corolla-beating warranty pitch to be worth less in practice than it is on the brochure.

Pros

  • Cabin materials and equipment beat a same-price Corolla or Elantra
  • CVT calibration avoids the drone some cheaper CVTs suffer from
  • Seven-year, unlimited-km warranty headline is a genuine differentiator
  • Parts supply through Motorcity has improved as Chery's local volume has grown

Cons

  • The long warranty excludes wear items and requires strict service compliance to stay valid
  • Only one authorized service network in Bahrain, smaller than Toyota's
  • Resale value trails a comparable Japanese or Korean sedan noticeably
  • Performance is adequate rather than engaging — not the sedan to buy for driving enjoyment

144 hp and 210 Nm from the 1.5-litre turbo four is unremarkable on paper, but the CVT is tuned to keep the engine in its usable band rather than flaring to redline the way some cheaper CVTs do, so the car feels calmer than the numbers suggest in everyday Manama driving. It is not quick, and it doesn't try to be — this is a sedan built for comfortable commuting, not for overtaking on the Budaiya Highway.

Cabin quality is genuinely a step up from what the price implies: soft-touch panels where a Corolla at the same money uses hard plastic, a bigger touchscreen, and leather-look upholstery as standard on most trims. The back seat is roomy enough for adults on the causeway run to Dammam, which is more than some rivals in this bracket manage.

The seven-year warranty, examined

Motorcity's headline seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty is the single biggest reason to consider an Arrizo over a Corolla on paper. In practice, treat it the way you'd treat any long warranty pitch: it covers manufacturing defects, not wear items like brake pads, tyres or wiper blades, and it is voided by missed services at an authorized centre. Chery has one distributor in Bahrain, so “authorized centre” means a smaller list of workshops than Toyota offers — factor the drive time and appointment availability into how much that seven years is actually worth to you.

Running costs and resale

Fuel economy and servicing costs are competitive with the segment, and Motorcity's parts supply for the mechanically similar Tiggo range has improved noticeably in the last two years as Chery volume has grown in Bahrain. Resale remains the honest weak point: a three-year-old Arrizo gives back more of its purchase price than a three-year-old Corolla or Elantra, in line with the wider pattern for Chinese-badge sedans across the GCC used market. Buy new, use the warranty fully, and don't plan your finances around the resale value matching a Japanese equivalent.
