Lamborghini Urus S review: the exotic that a Bahraini owner can actually drive every day

4.3/5

MotorsSouq Editorial Team

The Urus S solves the problem every other Lamborghini has in Bahrain: it can actually be driven daily, over speed bumps, in traffic, with the air-con working properly and enough boot space for the weekly shop. It does that without giving up genuine performance — the twin-turbo V8 makes it the fastest thing at most traffic lights regardless of body style. The catch is that it is still a Raging Bull: fuel, tyres and servicing cost accordingly, and Lamborghini's nearest full factory support sits across the causeway, not around the corner.

Pros

  • Air suspension and ride height genuinely cope with Bahraini speed bumps
  • Real boot space and five seats — usable as a family car
  • Twin-turbo V8 makes it the quickest thing at the lights in this class
  • Deeper GCC used-market liquidity than any other Lamborghini

Cons

  • No factory Lamborghini dealer in Bahrain for warranty or PDI work
  • Fuel consumption is genuinely high for the segment
  • Large-wheel tyre replacement is a real recurring cost
  • Insurance reflects a car with a Lamborghini badge, not a Cayenne one

Lamborghini built the Urus on the same MLB Evo platform as the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q8, and shares the Cayenne's air suspension architecture — which is precisely why it is the one Lamborghini that shrugs off Bahrain's roads rather than treating them as an obstacle course. Ride height adjusts electronically, and the highest setting clears the kind of aggressive speed bump that would clip the front splitter of a Huracán without a second thought.

Bahrain use case

Cabin air-conditioning copes with 45°C easily and the V8's twin turbos mean the engine is not stressed at Gulf ambient temperatures the way a naturally aspirated supercar can be. Real boot space and five genuine seats mean owners actually use it as a family car rather than a garage ornament — a genuine point of difference from every other model in this brief. Causeway runs to Saudi are comfortable at speed thanks to the air suspension's cruising mode, and the permanent all-wheel drive gives real confidence on the wet, greasy road surface Bahrain gets during its brief winter rain.

Running costs and service

Lamborghini does not operate a factory dealership in Bahrain, so new-car purchase, PDI and warranty claims typically route through the UAE or Saudi dealer network, with a small number of independent Bahraini workshops handling out-of-warranty servicing on the more common Volkswagen Group-derived mechanicals underneath. Fuel consumption at 4.0-litre twin-turbo-V8 rates is real — this is not an economical SUV — and tyre replacement on the large wheel sizes fitted to most GCC cars is a genuine budget line, not an afterthought.

Because the Urus sells in real volume relative to the rest of the Lamborghini range, the GCC used market has meaningfully more choice and liquidity than for a Huracán, and resale is correspondingly more predictable.
